GCL Strengthens Its Commercial Strategy in Colombia Following ExpoSolar

2026-11-05

GCL brought its TOPCon, Back Contact modules and its EcoPower Mate mobile solar solution to ExpoSolar Colombia. EcoPower Mate drew interest for its potential applications in oil and gas and construction. The company aims to expand the use of Back Contact technology across Latin America and grow its business in Colombia, where distribution remains an important channel.

With more than 20,000 attendees projected and 435 exhibiting brands, ExpoSolar Colombia brought together representatives from across the energy industry. GCL System Integration Technology used the event to strengthen its presence in the Colombian market and showcase its latest technologies. EcoPower Mate drew particular attention, especially from companies in the oil and gas and construction sectors.

The company displayed its TOPCon and Back Contact (BC) photovoltaic modules alongside a model of EcoPower Mate, demonstrating how the mobile solar system works. Anny Arzuaga, GCL’s Senior Marketing Manager for LATAM and Iberia, said it was one of the products that generated the most inquiries at the event. Visitors were particularly interested in its potential applications and commercial availability, and wanted to know how they could integrate it into their operations.

EcoPower Mate is a containerized photovoltaic system fitted with modules that unfold automatically. It can be transported between sites to generate solar power where there is no grid connection or where the available supply is insufficient. Depending on the configuration, it provides between 46 and 100 kW of capacity and can be paired with batteries and diesel generators.

The system addresses a practical need in activities such as oil exploration, mining and construction: access to electricity in locations where installing permanent infrastructure can be difficult or expensive. Once operations are complete, it can be folded away and moved to another site.

The interest shown in Colombia follows the solution’s early commercial progress in Latin America. GCL confirmed that it has already sold its first EcoPower Mate containers in Venezuela. According to Arzuaga, those sales also helped build confidence among ExpoSolar visitors interested in the product.

Back Contact in the Regional Expansion Strategy

GCL also presented its Back Contact technology, part of its effort to broaden its offering in Latin America. The company showcased it alongside its TOPCon modules, which continue to play an important role in its business.

Introducing Back Contact to the regional market is part of GCL’s strategy to diversify its photovoltaic portfolio. That portfolio also includes work on next-generation technologies, such as perovskite-silicon tandem modules, which the company has presented at other industry events.

In Colombia, distribution remains one of GCL’s main business channels, while the company continues to pursue opportunities in larger-scale projects. ExpoSolar gave GCL an opportunity to strengthen its ties with the Colombian market and gauge interest in two areas of its regional development: its evolving photovoltaic module portfolio and mobile power solutions for industries with specific energy needs.
